More Than a Farm—A Living Legacy in Joppa
We invite you to explore the city of Joppa where the historical land was owned by the first black settlers residing in Dallas Texas. This is more than a farm but a safe space for the community to learn, grow, and become the living source to provide nutrients to the farm. Learn more about Joppy Momma's Farm.

Our Story

Finding Inspiration in Every Turn
Joppy Momma's Farm is a community-driven farm located in the historic town of Joppa, just south of Dallas. Founded in 1872 by emancipated slave Henry Hines, Joppa is one of the last Freedman towns in Texas. Despite its rich history, it has faced extreme marginalization and was declared a food desert. Joppy Momma's Farm aims to change that by providing healthy, affordable food, empowering the community, and creating opportunities for health and wellness through sustainable agriculture. We offer fresh produce, herbs, honey, and year-round family-friendly events, all while working to create jobs and support underserved communities.

We Need Your Support
Joppy Momma's Farm is proudly non-profit and uncompromising in our mission and commitment to providing healthy, affordable foods for the community; aiming to empower, educate and create greater opportunities for health, wellness and self-sufficiency through sustainable, regenerative agriculture.
